Boys & Girls Beginning Horsemanship (ages 6+)

This class is designed for the beginner with an emphasis on the basics of horsemanship including safety, grooming, tacking, horse anatomy, and basic horse care. Students must wear hard-soled shoes and long pants. A riding helmet is mandatory and will be provided. A parent or guardian must accompany a child to the first lesson and will be asked to sign a permission/release form before class begins.
Six one-hour group lessons – $219
Tuesdays at 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

If you are a beginner student who has taken Beginning Horsemanship or have had previous riding lessons, then this class if for you! You will groom and tack a horse in a small group. Instruction is in English or Western riding techniques while on the horse and by observing classmates. Safety is a first priority, that’s why you must wear long pants and hard-soled shoes. A riding helmet is mandatory and will be provided. Please make sure you have your permission/release Form on file with Sunset Trails.
Six one-hour lessons – $239
Mondays at 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Tuesdays at 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Boys & Girls Beginner Horseback Riding II (ages 6+)

This class is designed for students who have taken Beginning Horsemanship and Beginner Horseback Riding I. Each student will groom and tack his/her lesson horse and riding will be the majority of the class time. Students will also practice balance and learn more about gaits. Safety is a first priority. Students must wear hard soled shoes and long pants. A riding helmet is mandatory and will be provided. Each student needs to have a permission/release form on file at Sunset before the first class.
Six one-hour lessons – $259
Mondays at 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Tuesdays at 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Boys & Girls Texas Tots Horsemanship (ages 4-5)

Everything is big in Texas but this class is designed for little ones. In this class, kids will meet real horses and have the opportunity to learn while having a real big time! Saddles, bridles, horse grooming and safety are all part of the program. Participants must wear close-toe shoes and long pants, and a parent will need to sign a permission form before the first class.
Six 45-minute lessons – $219

Texas Tots Horsemanship II (ages 4-5)

This class is designed for students who have taken Texas Tots. Students will groom and tack a horse in groups and will learn English or western riding technique while on the horse and by observing classmates. Safety is a first priority. Students need to wear long pants and hard-soled shoes. A riding helmet is mandatory and will be provided. Sunset Trails needs to have a permission/release form on file for each riding student.
Six 45-minute lessons – $239
Sundays at 1:30 - 2:15 p.m.
Ride On (For Students Who Have Completed Beginner Riding II)

This class is for intermediate students who have taken Beginning Horsemanship and Beginner Riding I and II who now want to progress their horseback riding skills by taking regular, ongoing lessons. Ride On classes help students build confidence and ability. Students will practice English or western higher-level movements and gaits. Safety is a first priority. Students must wear hard-soled shoes, long pants and a riding helmet. Four students will be accepted in each class.
Monthly fee – $209
Mondays 5:00 p.m.
Wednesdays 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Thursdays at 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
